2024 Triumph Daytona 660: Top Things You Should Know

The Daytona 660 is the latest addition to Triumph's 660 range, boasting the highest power output among its siblings. Triumph has introduced this new model in India at a price of Rs 9.72 lakh. Competing with models like the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Aprilia RS 660, priced at Rs 7.16 lakh and Rs 17.74 lakh respectively, it offers a unique proposition in its segment.

Triumph Daytona 660: Powertrain

The Daytona 660 features a 660cc inline three-cylinder engine, shared with the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660. However, it is tuned to deliver its peak performance in this model, generating 95hp at 11,250rpm and 69Nm at 8,250rpm. This makes it more powerful by 14hp and offers an additional 5Nm of torque compared to its naked and adventure counterparts.

Triumph Daytona 660: Specifications

Despite its higher power output, the Daytona 660 weighs more than the Trident 660 by 12kg but is lighter than the Tiger Sport 660 by 5kg. The seat height of the Daytona stands at 810mm, which is lower than the Tiger Sport by 25mm but higher than the Trident by 5mm. It also comes equipped with a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres, similar to that of the Trident.

Globally, the Daytona is available in three colour options: Snowdonia White, Satin Granite, and Carnival Red. In terms of pricing within India, it costs Rs 27,000 more than the Tiger Sport and Rs 1.60 lakh more than the Trident. Notably, it is only Rs 45,000 cheaper than the Street Triple R765 which offers significantly higher power and torque along with superior equipment.

The Daytona's rivals include not only the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Aprilia RS 660 but also upcoming models like Honda CBR650R and Suzuki GSX-8R. Although it does not match up to its predecessor, the Daytona 675 in terms of raw numbers, Triumph asserts that this new model is friendlier and more comfortable for riders.

In comparison to its competitors in India, while globally priced slightly lower than the Tiger Sport, it commands a premium here. This positioning places it strategically between entry-level sports bikes and higher-end models offering advanced features.
