The 373cc engine now reaches a redline of 10,700rpm, up by 1,000 revs. This adjustment allows the motor to produce 43hp at 9,500rpm, which is 3hp more than before and achieved at a higher rpm. The peak torque remains at 35Nm but is now delivered later in the rev range.

In terms of riding modes, the Sport mode has been tweaked for sharper throttle response. The other modes—Road, Off-road, and Rain—remain unchanged. Rain mode offers the gentlest response while Road and Off-road provide a balance between Rain and Sport.

The introduction of a bidirectional quickshifter marks a first for any Bajaj-branded motorcycle. This allows the new Pulsar NS400Z to sprint from 0-60 km/h in 2.7s, half a second faster than before. The 0-100km/h sprint now takes 6.4 seconds, 1.1 seconds quicker than before.

Bajaj addressed some initial shortcomings with this update. The older bias-ply MRF tyres have been replaced with Apollo Alpha H1 radials sized at 110/70-ZR17 for the front and 150/60-ZR17 for the rear. The rear tyre is now wider than before. Additionally, sintered front brake pads have replaced the previous organic units for improved braking efficiency.

Despite these improvements, key specifications remain unchanged. With its fuel tank filled to capacity (12 litres), the bike weighs 174kg. It maintains an accessible seat height of 805mm along with a ground clearance of 165mm.

Speaking on the launch, Sumeet Narang, President, Marketing, Bajaj Auto Ltd said, "The Pulsar NS400Z was built to set new benchmarks in accessible performance. Over the past year, we've listened closely to rider feedback and are proud to deliver a sharper, more powerful machine. With engineering upgrades and a first-of-its-kind clutch-less, full-throttle gear-shifting system co-developed with Bosch, the new NS400Z continues to push the limits of what a streetfighter can be. As we look ahead, our focus remains on elevating the Pulsar experience with purposeful upgrades that respond to the ever-evolving needs of Pulsar riders."

The Pulsar NS400Z continues to be available in four colours: white, red, grey, and black. It features revised stickering and graphics to complement its updated design. Overall, with its added features and performance enhancements at a marginally higher price point, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z strengthens its value-for-money position in the market.
