Hero Motocorp Experiences Significant Sales Decline in April 2025 Due to Production Halts
Hero Motocorp, India's leading two-wheeler speialist, experienced a significant drop in sales during April 2025. The company, known for its dominance in the bike segment, saw its sales figures halved compared to the previous year. In April 2024, Hero Motocorp sold about 533,585 two-wheelers, but this number fell to 305,406 in April 2025, marking a decrease of approximately 228,179 units.
In March 2025, Hero Motocorp's performance was strong with sales reaching around 549,604 units. However, by April, the numbers had dropped by 244,198 vehicles. This decline was not limited to domestic sales; exports also suffered. Out of the total two-wheelers sold in April 2025, 288,524 were sold within India and 16,882 were exported.

The company's domestic sales and exports both saw a noticeable reduction compared to their usual figures. In April 2025, Hero Motocorp sold a total of 286,089 bikes and 19,317 scooters. This represented a significant drop from April 2024 when they sold 496,542 bikes and 37,043 scooters. The decrease in bike sales amounted to 210,453 units while scooter sales fell by 17,726 units.
The decline in sales is largely attributed to a temporary halt in vehicle production at Hero's factories across India. This suspension took place over three days from the 17th to the 19th of April. Despite being brief, this pause had a considerable impact on the company's overall sales performance for the month.
During this short production break, Hero Motocorp focused on maintenance activities and supply chain adjustments. Although the production stoppage lasted only three days, it significantly affected sales figures. The repercussions of this halt may have extended beyond those three days, impacting other operations as well.

Hero's scooter sales also experienced a downturn with a reduction of 17,726 units compared to April of the previous year. In April 2024, Hero Motocorp had sold 37,043 scooters. This decline highlights the broader impact on both segments of their two-wheeler offerings.
Despite these challenges in April, Hero Motocorp remains a key player in India's two-wheeler market. The company continues to lead in bike sales while maintaining a presence in the scooter segment. The recent dip in numbers underscores the importance of consistent production and supply chain management for sustaining high sales volumes.
