Top 5 Two-Wheeler Manufacturers In January 2025 - Hero Just Holds Off Honda
In January 2025, the Indian two-wheeler market witnessed significant activity, with a total of 14,49,400 units sold among the top 6 manufacturers. This marked an increase from January 2024, when 14,16,096 units were sold.
The Y-o-Y rise in sales by 2.35%, or 33,304 units, highlights the continuing demand for two-wheelers in the country as do the MoM sales which too showed off double-digit improvement of 37.36%, compared to 10,55,206 units sold in December 2024, an increase of 3,94,194 units. Hero Motocorp maintained its position at the top of the sales charts by selling 4,12,378 two-wheelers in January 2025. However, Hero's sales slightly decreased compared to January 2024, when it sold 4,20,934 units. M-o-M sales though grew by 40.19% compared to the 2,94,152 units sold in December 2024.
Honda 2-Wheelers secured the second spot with a total of 4,02,977 units sold in January 2025. Honda ended the month less than 10,000 units short of Hero Motocorp, which . While Y-o-Y sales grew by 5.35% compared to Jan 2024's 3,82,512 units. M-o-M sales also perked up, growing by 48.74 percent compared to 2,70,919 units sold in Dec 2024.
TVS Motor ranked third with sales of 2,93,860 units last month. Y-o-Y sales of TVS were up by 9.55% compared to Jan 2024's 2,68,233 units. The Chennai-based firm's M-o-M sales were also in the black, rising by 36.63% compared to December 2024's 2,15,075 units.
Suzuki Motorcycle and Royal Enfield occupied the fifth and sixth positions respectively. Suzuki sold 87,834 two-wheelers while Royal Enfield managed to sell 81,052 units during January 2025. Both manufacturers reported growth in terms of both Y-o-Y and M-o-M metrics.
These sales number are related to the Indian domestic market and do not account for exports. If we do add exports into the sales numbers game, then Honda takes the lead from Hero Motocorp in total sales for January 2025.
