Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd. (KWV), a subsidiary of Kinetic Engineering Ltd. (KEL), marks a significant return to the two-wheeler sector by unveiling the new Kinetic DX EV. This innovation represents a harmonious blend of classic design and contemporary technology, emulating the original DX's hallmark characteristics. Collaborating with Italian designers, the team has crafted a vehicle that not only maintains the essence of the classic scooter but also positions it as an ideal choice for families, emphasizing its practicality and iconic design.
The introduction of the Kinetic DX EV heralds a new chapter in electric mobility, combining the reliability and innovation that Kinetic has been known for over the decades. Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman of Kinetic India, encapsulated the essence of this launch by stating, "With the new DX, we've introduced multiple segment-first features that we're confident, will make it a favourite in the new era of electric mobility. This marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for Kinetic and for the evolution of electric mobility in India."
In-Depth Features and Design
The Kinetic DX EV comes equipped with a robust metal frame, ample under-seat storage of 37 litres, and additional compartments for daily essentials. This feature is complemented by the scooter's spacious floorboard, enhancing its utility as a family vehicle.
A notable highlight is its Long Life Phosphate (LFP) battery, boasting a maximum capacity of 2.6 kWh and over 2500 charge cycles, offering an impressive range of 116 km on the DX+ model. This, coupled with the K-Coast regenerative braking system and efficient motor, capable of reaching speeds up to 90 km/hr, sets the DX EV apart in the electric scooter segment.
Enhanced Safety and Comfort
Safety and comfort are paramount in the new Kinetic DX EV models, featuring advanced suspension systems and braking mechanisms, including a 220mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake supported by combi-braking. Both the DX and DX+ models are designed to ensure a smooth ride with reverse and hill hold functionality, catering to the needs of the modern commuter.
The Kinetic DX EV range is not just about performance; it also integrates modern technology for an improved user experience. The DX+ model, in particular, comes with a dedicated mobile application that offers advanced Telekinetic features such as real-time stats, vehicle data tracking, and security alerts. Additionally, the 'My Kiney Companion Voice Alerts' personalizes the riding experience by greeting the rider and providing safety and functionality reminders, including birthday wishes.
With a limited booking availability of 35,000 units and deliveries slated to begin in September 2025, the Kinetic DX EV is priced at Rs 1,11,499 for the DX model and Rs 1,17,499 for the DX+ model. The DX+ offers a choice of five colours, while the DX is available in two shades. Customers looking to own a piece of this revived legend can do so by placing a booking for a nominal fee of Rs 1000 through the official Kinetic EV website.
To support this ambitious project, Kinetic Watts and Volts received an initial investment of Rs 72 crores from KEL and its promoters, who have also pledged an additional Rs 177 crores to further develop the DX platform. This financial backing underscores the commitment to rejuvenating the Kinetic brand and leading the electric mobility revolution in India.
