KTM Recalls 2024 Duke 125, 250, 390 & 990 - Here's Why
Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, KTM has issued a global recall for the 2024 Duke 125, Duke 250, Duke 390 and Duke 390 models after identifying a problem with the fuel-tank cap seal during internal quality checks.
KTM, which is now owned by Bajaj, has stated that certain seals may develop cracks that could lead to possible fuel leakage at the tank-cap area, prompting a precautionary replacement campaign across all markets.

The motorcycles affected by this recall must be brought to authorised KTM workshops for inspection. KTM will replace the fuel-tank cap seal free of charge to ensure the affected bikes continue to operate safely.
KTM has also reiterated that owners can independently check whether their motorcycle is part of the recall by entering their VIN number in the "Service" section of the brand's official global website. This online verification tool covers all affected 2024 Duke models and helps simplify appointment bookings for customers across multiple regions.
According to the company's official recall notice, "To ensure continued safety, reliability, and rider confidence, KTM is initiating a recall of the 2024 KTM 125, 250, 390, and 990 DUKE models. Affected motorcycles must be brought to the workshops of authorized KTM dealers for a preventive replacement of the fuel tank cap seal.
Customers to whom the affected motorcycles have already been delivered are being personally informed by letter and are asked to immediately contact an authorised KTM dealer to arrange an appointment for replacement."
The document further notes that material deviations identified during quality testing could cause small cracks to form in the seal, creating the possibility of fuel leakage. KTM states that, "To uphold KTM's commitment to safety and product quality, the fuel tank cap seal on all affected motorcycles will be replaced."
Customers contacted by letter are being asked to get in touch with an authorised KTM dealer immediately to arrange a service appointment. The company adds that the replacement procedure will be performed only by authorised dealerships and at no cost to the owner, ensuring a standardised approach worldwide.
This recall covers multiple global markets, including India, where the 2024 Duke 125, Duke 250 and Duke 390 are among KTM's bestselling premium streetfighters. The 2024 Duke 990, also included in the global recall, is not affected in India as it was not launched in the country.
