KTM has expanded its RC lineup in India with the launch of the new entry-level RC 160. Priced at 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom), the mini RC 160 will directly take on the Yamaha R15, the best-selling motorcycle in the segment. It also borrows many of its features from the Duke 160 and the RC 200.
KTM RC 160 Launched in India
Speaking at the launch of the KTM RC 160, Manik Nangia, President of Pro-Biking at Bajaj Auto Ltd., said, "With the new RC 160, we are bringing the same track-bred character to a wider audience. It's a motorcycle that captures the thrill of factory racing and makes it accessible to every young rider who dreams of speed, control, and confidence on two wheels. The RC 160 is not just an entry point; it's the first step into the exhilarating world of KTM performance."
Design & Build
The new motorcycle carries the same DNA as other RC series models, offering track-focused performance, thrilling power delivery, and race-inspired design. This entry-level motorcycle closely resembles the RC 200 in design, featuring KTM's signature orange paint scheme, a fully-faired body, and a sharp, track-inspired stance.
It borrows the same LED lighting setup as the RC 200, along with a large aerodynamic windscreen and aggressive styling with sharp design lines. The bike is built on a trellis frame that ensures agility while delivering excellent handling, control, and high-speed stability.

KTM RC 160: Powertrain
The RC 160 is powered by the same 164.2cc liquid-cooled engine as the Duke 160, producing 19 PS of power at 9,500 rpm and 15.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. It has a maximum rev limit of up to 10,200 rpm, making it one of the most powerful motorcycles in the segment. KTM claims a top speed of 118 km/h. The fuel tank capacity stands at 13.75 litres, making it suitable for both city commuting and highway riding.
Hardware and Safety
In terms of safety hardware, the motorcycle is equipped with 37mm inverted USD front forks and a rear monoshock suspension. It also gets 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, a larger 320mm front disc brake, and a 230mm rear disc for improved stopping power. Additional safety features include dual-channel ABS with Supermoto ABS and an assist and slipper clutch.

Technology and Convenience
Tech Features include an LCD instrument cluster, sporty split handlebars, a CAN-enabled electronic system, navigation support (TA variant), electronic fuel injection, and all-LED lighting with indicators.
Pricing Details
The RC 160 has an ex-showroom price of 1.85 lakh, making it 19k more expensive than the R15 V4, 25k higher than the R15 S, and 4k more than the R15 M. However, KTM is a strong player in the premium segment in India, and its entry into the 150cc category is a big challenge to Yamaha's long-standing dominance in the segment.
