Bajaj Chakan Worker's Union Strike Postponed; 50% Production Shifted
The planned strike by Bajaj Auto workers' union, Vishwa Kalyan Kamgar Sanghatana (VKKS) on April 28 has been postponed by two weeks. The union announced that it has taken this decision keeping the interest of employees in mind and to give the management more time to think over the demands put forth.
Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto, as a measure to ensure production of high demand products is not affected, has reportedly shifted production of Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180 models to its Waluj, Aurangabad facility. This makes up 50 percent of all models produced at Chakan.

The Bajaj Auto workers' union had issued a to notice to the management on April 14 threatening a worker's strike from April 28th and had set down a list of demands.
These demands include setting aside a portion of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund for development of tribals, malnutritioned and education of employees' children, setting up a museum in honour of the company's founder Jamnalal Bajaj and allotment of 500 shares to each employee at a discounted price of Rs 10. Bajaj's Chakan manufacturing facility has some 2000 employees, including about 900 permanent workers. The facility outputs 1.2 million motorcycles every year consisting of Pulsar, KTM and Ninja models.
